1 dies, another survives in Maguindanao floods

COTABATO CITY (Sept. 9/NDBC) -- The floods that submerged more than half of Maguindanao's municipalities had taken its toll, not only on agricultural products, infrastructure and livelihood of Maguindanaons.It also took the precious life of a 4-year-old boy, according to local disaster official. Another child, a 3-year-old girl survived.Reports from Maguindanao Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) and ARMM-HEART Humanitarian Action Response Team (HEART) identified the fatality as Norsalam Dinga of Barangay Matilak whileMonaima Silongan of Upper Taviran, all in Mother Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.The separate incidents happened last Sunday. Silongan was immediately brought to Cotabato Regional and Medical Center. She is now in safe condition. This is a reminder toour parents in the flooded zone to closely watch their children, they must never take for granted the dangers flood could bring, they must be on alert anytime,” said Alex Manuel, focal person of the Maguindanao provincial disaster risk reduction and management council.
