CAMP SIONGCO,Maguindanao– The soldiers of 6th Infantry Division, while conducting security operation in Barangay Tukanalipao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao, clashed anew with the bandits of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) Wednesday. The troops, belonging to the 40th Infantry Battalion and 63rd Division Reconnaissance Company, were heading for the perpetrators believed to be members of the outlawed BIFF of Cpl Tamano U. Macadatar from 524th Engineer Contruction Battalion who was killed last April 04, 2017.Cpl Tamano was unarmed when the gunmen shot to death while he was taking part in the construction of a school building project in Tukanalipao town.At around 6:30 in the morning, the soldier engaged in a firefight with the BIFF under Commander Marrox and Commander Muslimen that lasted for 15 minutes. The rebel group scampered away after the government troops pushed them away and succeeded to get hold of their temporary shelter. After the firefight, the troops recovered 2 pressure type improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 1 PRB M423 hand grenade (without trigger mechanism), 1 wet cel battery, 3 automotive battery charger, 3 icom antennas, 1 ICOM charger, 1 cellphone battery, sim packs, electrical wires, uniforms (tiger suit and camouflage), life jacket, cloth storage, and ply board with written Arabic letters.Operating troops also found bloodstains while they scoured the area, which is evident that the bandits suffered casualties. The troops encountered with the rebel groups last March 31, 2017 when they preempted a possible bombing attempt at the boundary of Barangay Timbangan, Shariff Aguak and Barangay Nabundas, Shariff Saydona Mustapha in Maguindanao province, which left 2 soldiers wounded.6ID is continually intensifying its operations in the region in order to prevent the terror group from launching atrocities in the communities. The command will exert more effort to disrupt the group that threatens the security situation in Mindanao.
