ACT calls for justice for slain Cotabato City teachers
COTABATO CITY -The Alliance of Concerned Teachers today condemn the murder of two lady teachers and wounding of another in Cotabato City the other day.In a statement, ACT calls forthe immediate resolution and serving of justice for the two murdered public school teachers in Cotabato City.Fahara Kabuntalan La, 29 years old and Sittie Usop Abdullah, 31 years old, both teachers at the Mokamad Ali Elementary School, were ambushed while on board a tricycle at Tamontaka, Cotabato City around 4and00 pm Wednesday.Aside from the two, another teacher was also wounded. The local authorities, both the Local Government Unit and the Philippine National Police should work hard and fast to determine the perpetrators of the incident. We also urge the local government and the Department of Education to immediately provide legal and financial assistance for the families of the two teachers. The same should be provided also for teacher Aisah Karon Malugka and to the tricycle driver, both sustained gunshot wounds,” said Mr. Raymond Basilio, secretary-general of Alliance of Concerned Teachers. Since the incident happened in public view and in a broad day light, there are many witnesses. We call to all who witnessed the attack to come out so that justice be served. On the other hand, the local authorities should ensure the safety of the witnesses,” Basilio said.The Cotabato City police remained clueless on the identity and motive of motorcycle riding armed men.
