Ampatuan's cadaver arrives in Maguindanao
DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao--- The remains of key massacre suspect Andal Ampatuan, Sr. arrived past 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Maguindanao provincial airport from Manila.Some 200 relatives and loyal supporters waited at the airport to witness his return to their hometown, Shariff Aguak.The surroundings of the airport in Datu Odin Sinsuat town was packed with dozens of sports utility vehicles and flashy cars owned by the Ampatuans who waited for more than three hours for the passenger plane carrying the governor’s cadaver to arrive from Manila.The Ampatuans immediately left for Shariff Aguak after the casket containing the former governor’s cadaver was unloaded from the plane and transferred to a family-owned bullet-proof Chevrolet Suburban SUV.Among those who waited at the airport were former officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao who had served during the time of ARMM Gov. Zaldy Ampatuan, son of the cancer-stricken former provincial governor, who died almost midnight Friday at the National Kidney Transplant Institute.Relatives of Ampatuan said his remains will be buried at 3and00 p.m. Saturday in a private compound in Shariff Aguak, where a family mansion is located.Ampatuan will be buried in a vacant lot inside their two-hectare residential compound, according to members of his family.
