Army condemns NPA terror attacks in T'boli, South Cotabato
KORONADAL CITY - The Army's 27th Infantry Battalion has condemned the latest terrorist attacks carried by communist New Peoples Army in T'boli, South Cotabato that left a militiaman killed and wounded another.Colonel Ronald Jess Alcudia, 27th IB chief, said the communist rebels posted streamer along a road in T'boli announcing its foundation anniversary on March 29.Elements of the 27th IB backed Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) tried to remove the streamer when a grenade attached to it exploded.Alcudia said the explosive wasnot command-detonated, and could have easily victimized any civilian passing the public road or any individual who removes the sign.
This incident again manifests the violent nature of the Communists, Alcudia told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal. The terror attack was carried out even as the people of South Cotabato began to commemorate the Holy Week this Palm Sunday. The lawless armed elements always celebrate their anniversary with more killings and terror acts, as they measure success by the degree of suffering inflicted on our people, the 27th IB commander said. In this regard, we caution the public from handling any NPA signage or material as these are instruments of death. Please report all suspicious streamers to barangay officials, he appealed.
