Blast hits Sultan Kudarat Kalimudan festival 15 hurt

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat (Nov. 22) – At least 15 persons were wounded when unidentified suspects lobbed a hand grenade in the middle of people-filled festival front the provincial capitol grounds Saturday night, police said.
Supt. Jemuel Siason, chief of Sultan Kudarat police provincial public safety battalion, said the blast occurred near AG Advance Gasoline Station along the Isulan-Tacurong City national highway at about 8:30 p.m.
The injured were rushed to Sultan Kudarat provincial hospital which was few meters away.
Portions of the national highway had been closed to traffic before the blast as people milled around ornamental display center and Ukay-Ukay” (used clothing) stalls that lined the highway in front of Sultan Kudarat provincial capitol grounds. No one has claimed responsibility in the attack which came as the province culminated the celebration of Kalimudan (Thanksgiving) Festival. Police and Army bomb experts are still at the blast scene gathering pieces of evidences but Siason said investigators have recovered fragments of hand grenade. (Ferdinandh Cabrera)
