CIDG-12 agents arrest 3 gov't forces in Lebak anti-drug raid
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Two police
officers, a Marine sergeant, and three others were arrested in a buy-bust raid
in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat Saturday, officials today said.
Chief Inspector Elmer Guevarra,
officer-in-charge of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in
Region 12 (Central Mindanao), identified the suspects as Police Officer 1 Hamed
Karon, assigned at the Police Regional Office in the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARMM) Police Officer 3 Benny Uy of the Police Regional Office
in Southern Mindananao (PRO-11) Sergeant Sherwin Aregado of the Marine
Battalion Landing Team (MBLT) assigned at Lebak, Sultan Kudarat Michael John
Besana Ronaldo Hierro and Akmad Guiamel Kabagani.
Guevarra said that both the police
and the Marine personnel they apprehended during the raid at Barangay Tibpuan,
Lebak were absent from their assignments without official leave.
Recovered from them were 17 sachets
of shabu, a known illegal drug several drug paraphernalia and a considerable
cash believed to be drug money.
The suspects were arrested in an
operation dubbed as, Oplan Big Berta.
They are now placed under the custody
of the CIDG-12 in General Santos City while charges are being prepared against
them.
