Cotabato City flood victims get aid
COTABATO CITY (Sept. 9/NDBC) – Residents of 16 flooded residents here
have received relief assitance from the local government unit, the city
government said.
Through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, the LGU distributed
food packs to hundreds of families in the Barangays affected by flood following
the non-stop rainfall since last week.
In a statement to ndbcnews.com.ph, Sayadi said a total of 16 villages
are now submerged in water, but only 1 village has evacuees.BarangayRosary Heights 6
has accommodated 31 families in its Barangay Hall. All of them have received food assistnce
Monday.
About 512 home-based families in Tamontaka 4 also received their food
packs on Monday.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has recorded a
total of 4,271 families or 14,705 individuals affected by flooding.
Atty. Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, city administrator, said Mayor Japal Guiani has
already directed all the eastern barangays to monitor the water level in their
area and report immediately once floods reappeared.
We have gauges per Barangay.
When the water reaches a certain level of the gauge, that is the time when they
have to alert their constituents and also the local government so that we can
assist them immediately,” Sayadi said.
Meanwhile, the CDRRMO staff members are continuously monitoring all the
affected Barangays. (NDBC)
