Cotabato City gets Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance award

COTABATO CITY - City Mayor Japal Guiani Jr on Thursday announced that the city was a recipient of Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance from the Council for the Saftety of Children (CWC).The award was part of the celerbation of Children's Month with the theme Bata Kasali ka, Ikaw ay Mahalaga. Throughout the month of October, Guiani said the city government conducted Day Care Ethnic- Socio Cultural Competitions, Search for Day Care Child 2014 and an intensified campaign against child bullying.As child friendly local governance awardee, the city, according to Guiani will compete at the national level for the presidential award along with 19 other local government units.He said the city government spent P5.8 million for various programs and projects for the children, that included the creation of an inter-agency committee against trafficking and violence against women and children implmeneted by the City Social Welfare and Development.The seal of child friendly governance came after the city was chosen as one of the three finalists in the national search for Most Business Friendly City of the Philippines.Early this year, Cotabato City was listed as 39th most competitive city in the country.
