DA-12 eyes cloud seeding operations to save crops

KORONADAL CITY -- The Department of Agriculture in Central Mindanao region will soon conduct cloud seeding operations to induce rains that will water and save agricultural crops in at least three provinces of REgion 12, agriculture officials said.Zaldy Boloron, DA-12 assistant technical director and focal person for drought mitigating programs said assessment conducted by the department's bureau of soils and water management has been going on.He told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida that at least 10 cloud seeding sorties are in place using light planes in sowing salt on clouds up in the skies.The region is known as the leading rice and corn producers of Mindanao.
