Fireworks display awes Kidapawan City residents
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Synchronized display of whizzing, banging, and colorful fireworks greeted city residents as they get ready to mark New Year. City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said they spent some P150 thousand, citing help from friends, for the spectacular show, the city LGU’s first. He said he intends to make fireworks display a tradition in the city.It also gained positive ‘public relations’ (PR) for the city as it prepares next year to becoming next tourist destination in Central Mindanao. Events like this, he explained, can boost profits for hotels, restaurants, malls, and several other establishments within the city’s commercial districts. About 5,000 people, mostly residents from the city and nearby towns, trooped to the city streets to watch fireworks explode from the city plaza. The event used different types of fireworks to create and choreograph several explosions. Many of them said ahh, gwapuha oi, (ahhh beautiful), 'yes,' 'yehhey, among others as they were amazed at the choreograph and beauty of colorful fireworks. I was so happy seeing families together watching the display.Definitely, we will include this in our tourism must watch calendar,” Evangelista said. He also intends to make another event during the city’s foundation day on February 2015. To make the fireworks display more stunning and alive, he said he would invite the business community to partner with the city LGU.
