GILAS Pilipinas buries Kuwait in 2015 FIBA
GILAS
Pilipinas today outclassed the aggressive Kuwaiti players to nail its second
victory in three outings at the on-going 2015 FIBA in Shangsha, China 110-64 in
a game that went smooth until less than a minute.
Shortly before
the game ends, a bloody Abdul Azis Al Hamadi went berserk and attacked a
Kazakstan referee for non call after he was hit in his lips by Gilas’ Raniedel
De Ocampo.
De Ocampo only
gave what Al Hamadi did to him earlier when the Kuwaiti hit his balls. Both incidents were captured and replayed on
TV coverage.
Five of Al Hamadi's companions had to prevent him from attacking the referee. At one point, he managed to lobbed a bottled water toward the officials' table which hit a TV cameraman.
It was
supposedly a game highlighted by Terrence terrible” Romeo doing a Stephen
Curry like cross over dribbles several times, puzzling the lanky Kuwaitis.
Romeo’s fancy
dribbles and treys earned him 19 points to lead the Gilas in its second
victory.
It was a highly
lopsided game in favour of well executed offense and defense of Gilas despite
Kuwaiti’s aggressive and dirty kind of game.
The Gilas defense
left Kuwait scoreless in more than 10 minutes, five minutes unproductive at
first half and another five minutes drought in the first half of second
quarter.
It was at this
time that the Gilas score a 26 to nothing run, courtesy of Jason Castro
Williams and Calvin the beast” Abueva.
Abueva’s aggressive plays earned him technical foul.
The Kuwaitis
played dirty, giving elbows, hard fouls on Gilas’ faces and yet kept on complaining
to referees.
The first half
was all Romeo and Abueva show with Romeo scooping a lay-up against taller
defender to end the show. At the second
quarter, Abueva slammed on a fast break, get down for defense and steal the
basket for another 2 points.
Early in the
second quarter, the Kuwaitis had higher fouls than scores. It recorded 17 fouls and only 13 points at
7:45 in the second quarter.
Still trying
to outplay Gilas, the Kuwaitis scored three treys in succession cutting the
scores but the Pinoys smelled victory towards the end of third quarter.
