Isulan candidates sign peace covenant for SAFE 2016
ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec-Isulan) in partnership with its deputies on Saturday hosted a forum Saturday on the coming elections and initiated the signing of peace covenants among candidates.Supt. Joefel Siason, Isulan town police chief, and Col. Cesar de Mesa, chief of Joint Task Force Talakudong,led the police and military authorities, all deputies of the poll body in town also signed the peace covenant and Integrity Pledge for Secure and Fair Elections (SAFE).Nelly Pajarillo, acting Isulan election officer, said the peace covenant signing was witnessed by Fr. Gilbert Nasataya, parish priest of San CarlosBorromeo parish and other stakeholders in the May 9, 2016 national and local elections.The covenant stated that the candidates will abide by the rules of elections and would not resort to violence and electoral fraud.It also called on all candidates to work for a secure, fair, peaceful and credible elections.
