DAVAO CITY - Mayor Rodrigo Duterte today said he is not seeking the country's top post and thanked those who believed in him and pushed him to run for president next year.Speaking during a news conference, Duterte, who have been roaming around the country lately to push for federalism and feel peoples' pulse on his desire to run for president in 2016 polls, announced with sadness that he is backing off.His announcement ended the long wait and calls for him to run for president and save the country.At the news conference, sobs were heard as supporters did not expect the mayor's decision.He said he came up with the decision after consulting his family.Duterte said he will resign from politics in 2016.He made the announcement in a 15-minute news conference and then left the hotel without entertaining questions from reporters.
