Kidapawan Call 911 personnel now full-pledge emergency workers
KIDAPAWAN CITY - At least 13 staff of the Call 911 of the Public Safety Division of
Kidapawan City Government completed a short course at the Asia’s Emergency
Medical Services Institute, Inc (AEMS), the first EMS Education and Training
Center based in Davao City.
The Call 911 personnel, now full-pledged
emergency medical technicians (EMTs), were taught about the right knowledge,
skills, and attitude to competently perform the art and science of hospital emergency care.
The course was facilitated by AEMS head Paul Barson and AEMS Head
Instructor Craig Gibson.
The training came a year after the city
government established Call 911, the first in Central Mindanao, to respond to
emergencies, search and rescue, and disasters.
Equipped with knowledge, the EMTs of city
LGU are tasked to provide pre-hospital care administer initial medical relief
during emergencies like giving intravenous fluids to victims of accidents and treat
injuries while patients are being brought to hospitals.
City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said he
tapped the AEMS in the training because of its competency.
The city LGU has subsidized the course,
which lasted for more than three months.
The training started in September and ended early this week, reports
said.
The AEMS, an
approved training center of American Safety and Health Institute, intends to create
a culture of education that fosters a long-term commitment to healthy outcomes
and reduction of health related risks among its graduates.
Evangelista said the course will help upgrade the skills of
their Call 911 personnel in emergency
response and rescue as this will save lives of patients during transport to
hospitals.
