Kidapawan lady cops undergo shooting proficiency tests
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Policewomen here proved they are not only good at preparing paper works but also in marksmanship.
At least 10 policewomen, many of them assigned at the Women and Children’s Protection Desk and Administration at the Kidapawan City PNP, underwent shooting proficiency tests at the Evangelista shooting range at Barangay New Corella in Makilala, North Cotabato, on Sunday.
These women showed their skills on target shooting and close quarter battle (CQB), a proficiency which requires familiarity with basic tactics, accuracy, power or physical agility, speed, controlled aggression, and average shooting skills.Superintendent Franklin Anito, city police director, said policewomen who showed exemplary shooting skills might be included in the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team which they intend to create anytime this year.
SWAT teams, Anito stressed, would be equipped with military-type hardware and are trained to counter threats of terrorism, as crowd control, and to be deployed in other incidents considered ‘high-risk’, including hostage-taking.
The shooting proficiency test among members of the Kidapawan City PNP on September 6 was the second since August.
It was Inspector Fulache, a 2012 graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy and a native of Batangas City, that topped the target shooting and CQB tests. Fulache heads the operations department.
Second to Fulache was Police Officer Pido 3rd, PO3 Himalaya 4th, PO2 Canos and 5th, PO2 Agot.
