Koronadal police arrest man, seize drugs, gun

KORONADAL CITY – Police here arrested Sunday a man believed to be involved in illegal drug pushing in the city, the 5th successful operation versus illegal drugs this year, police said.A drug buy bust operation was successfully conducted by the city PNP inBarangay Zone 4, Koronadal City yesterday.
The operation was a joint effort of City Anti Drug Abuse Council and Koronadal City Police.
Superintendent Nestor Salcedo, Koronadal City police director,told DXOM-am Radyo Bida Koronadal in an interview the suspect was identified as Joan Maglanatay, 26 and aresident of Upper Balmores, Barangay Sto. Nno, Koronadal City.
Recovered from Maglantay were seven big sachets and eight medium packs believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or locally known as shabu, a motorcycle, and a caliber .22 revolver with eight live ammunition.
According to Supt.Salcedo the raid was based on asearch warrant issued byJudge Lorenzo Balo of Regional Trial CourtBranch 24, Koronadal City. The raiding team alsorecovered from the house of the suspect one liveammunition for 50 caliber, two bullets for .30 caliber machine gunand 16 ammunition for Magnum 22 pistol.
He added that suspect will be facing charges for violating of Article 9165 or Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 section 5, section 11 and 12.
The suspect is now in the custody of Koronadal City PNP.
Last Sunday's operation was the fifth successful campaign against illegal drugs in the city, Salcedo said.
