Marawi police chief killed in ambush

COTABATO CITY (Oct. 17) – Unidentified armed ambushed and killed today the police chief of Marawi City in a daring attack, police said. Senior Insp. Ronald de Leon, police spokesperson of the Autonomous Region in Muslin Mindanao (ARMM), said Supt. Al Abner Wahab Santos, Marawi City police chief and resident of Pagadian City was driving is Mitsubishi when ambushed at 2:20 p.m. crossing Sarimanok, Barangay Luksa Datu. De Leon said the gunmen on board a separate Montero vehicle opened fire as Santos was approaching the village. He died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds. Motive of the attack remained unknown.
