Rare tornado hits North Cotabato remote village

MAKILALA, North Cotabato - A rare tornado rippedthrougha remote village here Monday afternoonthat destroyed several houses and downed bout 500 banana plants and huge trees, officials said.Nobody was hurt when the tornado hit the sub-village of Sarayan, Barangay San Vicente, Makilala at 3 p.m., according to Nestor Bautista.Bautista, village chair of San Vicente, told DXND Radyo Bida Kidapawanthe incident flattened a banana plantation and toppled down several trees. Three houses were also damaged. A rubber plantation was partially destroyed. The Makilala municipal disaster risk reduction and management council is still conducting assessment of the damages.
