COTABATO CITY – Police authorities in Sultan Kudarat province have neutralized a man wanted for various crimes after he resisted arrested and traded bullets with law enforcers in Maguindanao before dawn Tuesday. Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, police regional director for the SOCCSKSARGEN region, identified the suspect as Commander Tenti Taup Mangarin alias Commander Winston, the No. 1 most wanted person in Sultan Kudarat. Led by Senior Supt. Reynaldo Celestino, Sultan Kudarat police provincial director, the provincial police and regional intelligence unit, had conducted law enforcement operation in coordination with Maguindanao police provincial office in Sitio Kamalig, Barangay Meti, Datu Blah Sinsuat town in Maguindanao at 3:30 a.m. against Mangarin. The police were armed with warrant of arrest for murder, attempted murder with direct assault upon agents of person in authority. Rasco said Mangarin was involved in the burning of heavy equipment owned by Jargon Construction Company, the killing of school principal in Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao and series of robbery in the towns of Kalamansig and Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. Rasco said as the raiding team members were approaching Mangarin’s home he opened fire at lawmen, triggering a shootout. Recovered from Mangarin were two M-16 Armalite rifles, magazines and ammunition for M-16 rifle. Mangarin’s relatives took his remains and buried according to Muslim rites.
