Undeniably best reporter JMU gets 6th ID citation
CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -The Army's 6th Infantry Division on Saturday awarded with a special citation Philippine Star reporter John Unson for his extensive and in-depth reporting of 6th ID's continuing peace-building activities in Central Mindanao.The 50-year-old Unson, who started covering the region for the STAR in 1998, has been a consistent recipient of awards from civic groups, military and police units for his peace reports and his personal involvement in domestic peace efforts meant to build solidarity among the area's culturally-pluralistic communities.The profession-related award he received on Saturday was his 29th in the past 15 years.Also awarded with special commendation during Saturday's celebration of the 6th ID's 27th founding anniversary at Camp Siongco in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in Maguindanao was peace activist and human rights lawyer Tom Falgui of Gen. Santos City.A dozen soldiers also received medals for meritorious conduct.The awards were personally handed over to recipients by 6th ID's commander, Major. Gen. Edmundo Pangilinan, and Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Lt. Gen.
