(UPDATE) South Cotabato detainee outsmarts jail guard, escapes
KORONADAL CITY -- Most, if not all,detainees have only one thing in mind - how to escape - and grab any opportunityto gain freedom.Inmate Joven Talib Camsa has this in mind when he was rushed to the South Cotabato provincial hospital in Koronadal City after complaining of kidney problemon Thursday night.At 7 a.m. Friday, he outsmarted his jail guard who accompanied him to the hospital and fled the health facility, still with handcuffs in his hands, South Cotabato Provincial Rehabilitation and Detention Center chief Juan Lanzaderas told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida. Manhunt has been going on, Lanzaderas, also acting jail warden, said. Lanzaderas appealed to Camsa, a resident of Polomolok, South Cotabato, to surrender. He also appealed to Camsa's relatives or anyone who can see a man with a handcuff on his hands to alert nearest police station.Camsa was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. He was arrested, along with five others, in an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Bentong Sulit, Polomolok, South Cotabato in August last year.Lanzaderas said Jail Officer Jocel Taglip tasked to guard Camsa is facing administrative charges.
