What really caused Cotabato City total blackout?
COTABATO CITY --A rotten wood
cross-arm of a transmission tower at the outskirts of Cotabato City triggered total
blackout in the franchise area of Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato
Light), the distribution utility said.
Arlene Hipega
of Cotabato Light communications office said the power went out at 8:37 p.m.
Tuesday and was restored at 9:57 p.m. or more than an hour and a half.
The tower
(Structure No. 691), located in Barangay Biniruan, Cotabato City carries the
69KV line from National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) Simuay Station
to Cotabato Light and NGCP sub-station in Datu Saudi Ampatuan.
At 10:28 a.m.
Wednesday, the NGCP-Cotabato Light line was normalized.
In the
meantime, Hipega said the scheduled feeder rotational brown out of two to three hourscontinues in
Cotabato City and parts of Sultan Kudarat and Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao.
