Woman has premature delivery after highway mishap

COTABATO CITY ---
Six persons were badly hurt, among them a pregnant woman, when a passenger
multi-cab and a tricycle collided at an accident-prone stretch of the Sinsuat
Avenue here shortly after sunrise Thursday.

Senior Supt.
Raul Supiter, director of the Cotabato City police, said traffic probers are
now trying to determine who was to blame for the collision.

The injured
tricycle and multi-cab passengers were immediately rushed to the Cotabato
Regional Medical Center for Medication.

Police traffic
enforcers identified the wounded passengers as Rheann Lapasaran, her brother
Ronald and his wife Zenaida Sumagca and an unidentified relative. They were on board a Payong-Payong”
(tricycle) on their way to Cotabato Regional Hospital to bring Sumagca who was
then due to deliver her baby.

Also injured
were Tata Bai Pagayao, 17, resident of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao and student
of Cotabato City National High School main campus, and multicab (MWC-383) driver
Samsudin Maong.

The tricycle
driver remained unidentified and is in critical condition at the CRMC.

The scene of
the accident is near the gate of the Notre Dame of Cotabato, a Catholic school,
a traffic bottleneck.

Supiter said
responding policemen immediately removed the mangled multi-cab and tricycle
from the road to prevent causing traffic jam. (With reports from Edwin
