Cotabato cops arrest man with gun, grenade

COTABATO CITY -- Police and village watchmen arrested here Tuesday one of the suspects in the series of crimes in the city, officials said. Senior Supt. Rex Anongos, Cotabato City police director, identified the suspect as Adam Mlok, 27, also known as Rambo, resident of Barangay Rosary Heights 5, Cotabato City. Anongos said police and barangay tanod (village watchmen) conducted choke points on motorists in the village when Mlok, then driving a motorbike, was flagged down by authorities. When frisked, police officersnoticed a cal. 45 pistol on Mlok's waist and a fragmentation grenade on his pocket. He failed to present documents legalizing his possession of hand gun and hand grenades. His motorbike was also confiscated by responding police officers. Police presented the suspect toMayor Japal Guiani Jr wholauded the police and the village watchmen for the accomplishments. Police saidthe suspect was about to hold-up students of their mobile phones when the tanods were tipped off about his plan thus a choke point was quickly established.
