TACURONG CITY -- Local officials and police authorities on Monday administered mass oath-taking of personalities involved in illegal drug trade who volunteered to surrender and signify their intention to reform in compliance to the government's call for them to cease using prohibited drugs.Mayor Lina Montilla and Supt. Ranie Hachuela, Tacurong City police director, led the mass oath taking of 330 persons who volunteered to sign affidavit of undertaking and vowed to do away with illegal drugs.The mass oath taking was held at the city gymnasium. Your local government unit will support your desire to live normal lives and do away with brain damaging prohibited substance, Montilla told the illegal drug dependents.She said the local government of Tacurong will assist and help those who sincerely change their daily lives by providing livelihood assistance.Supt. Roel Sermese, company commander of Sultan Kudarat police provincial office, attended the ceremony in behalf of Supt. Raul Supiter, provincial police director.The individuals who feared massive police campaign beginning Thursday promised to stop all their vices.At least 2,000 persons involved in illegal drug trade in Sultan Kudarat's 11 municipalities have showed up to police offices and vowed to reform or help the police curb illegal drug activities.Supiter believed the illegal drugs in the province were supplied by drug lords in Maguindanao and outside Sultan Kudarat. He did not name the suspected drug lords.He vowed to push the implementation of Oplan Lambat Sibat, a police-led comprehensive anti-carnapping, anti-illegal drugs and anti-crime campaign.
