Kidapawan robbery cases rising
KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 2/NDBC) – Alarmed by the rising cases of robbery-hold up in the city,
Mayor Joseph Evangelista has ordered the city police office to dig deeper,
identify the men behind it, arrest them and file appropriate charges.
Evangelista
told DXND Radyo Bida-Kidapawan that the police had initial information on the
group or groups behind the series of robbery hold-up but the suspects remained
at large.
He, however, did not give any statistics as to the number of robbery and hold up cases happening in the city day in day out.According to
Evangelista the city government is willing to provide the necessary support for
the police to contain robbery and hold-up cases.
Earlier,
Evangelista ordered the installation of closed circuit television cameras along
national highways to serve as deterrent against criminalities.
Evangelista,
who chairs the Kidapawan City peace and order council, said he believed the
robbers and thieves were not outsiders but Kidapawenios who were trying to make
a living out of petty crimes.
It appears, he
said, that the suspects knew pretty well the soft targets among the city
establishments.
Supt. Gilbert
Tuzon, Kidapawan City police chief, has not issued statement on the city chief
executive’s directive. (NDBC)
