KORONADAL
CITY - To promote sharing of best practices in good governance, cultural, socio-economic, sports , and education development, a sisterhood
agreement was inked between the cities of Iloilo and Koronadal.

The
signing was held during thecelebration
of 14th Charter Anniversary and 4th Negosyo Festival of Koronadal City
Wednesday.

The
friendship between the two cities was sealed by Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick
Mabilog and Koronadal City Mayor Peter Miguel.

It
was witnessed by members of Koronadal City Council and Tacurong City Mayor Lina
Montilla who had earlier signed the same agreement with Iloilo City.

As thetwo local chief executives sign the agreement, applause roared, mostly from Ilonggos and descendants of settlers from Iloilo
City.

The
agreement that we signed is about the city of Koronadal, and the city of
Iloilo, sharing a common desire to promote and foster strong special ties,
mutual understanding, friendship and goodwill, as siblings, we will
continuously work for the progress of each city,” Mabilog said after the signing rites. But
for Koronadal Mayor Miguel the accord is also the city government’s way of
recognizing the place of origin ofmost
people in Koronadal City. Today
is the day we are coming back to our own origin, each and everyone of us has its
roots in a big city called Iloilo, in an island of Panay, all of us came from
that place,” Miguel said.

To
help promote the culturefor tourism
development, Mabilog invited the Hinugyaw Dance Troupe of Koronadal and Tacurong
City’s Talakudong Festival performers to participate in their famous Dinagyang
Festival in January 2015.

Don’t
worry about your transportation and accommodation because Iloilo City will take
care of it,” Mabilog said as the crowdroared and applaudeven more.
