KORONDAL CITY - The provincial assessor’ office of South Cotabato has appealed to owners of real properties in the province to submit their real properties to assessment to avoid penalties. Cynthia Barrientos, OIC Provincial Assessor of South Cotabato, said this is part of their campaign to increase the province’s collection on real property tax (RPT) and to remind the public of their obligation to the provincial government. Barrientos confirmed that because of wrong notion of their office asking for payments, many occupants of land in the province are hesitant to ask for land valuation. We don’t ask payment for the assessment of your land, we have technical people to help you properly managed your properties,” Barrientos appealed through DXOM FM Wednesday. As part of strategies to convince people to allow valuation and assessment of real properties, the provincial assessors office have coordinated with the village government. In line with the Assessment Awareness Month celebration this November, we will be conducting training to at least 200 barangay officials to make them understand the importance of RPT assessment,” Barrientos said. Latest record of the provicial assessors office revealed that assessed value of real properties in South Cotabato as of September 2014 has acculated to at least P12.1 billion pesos.
