Cotabato's 'Bahay Maria,' this year's Philhealth fun run beneficiary

KORONADAL
CITY – As part of its corporate social responsibilities (CSR), Philippine
Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth 12) launched its second nationwide
simultaneous run dubbed as PhilHealthand Ready, TSeKaP, Go” at Cinco Niña here.

Ramon Aristoza Jr,PhilHealth chief operating officer (COO) invited everyone to join the
PhilHealth run on February 15, 2015 in 13 regions all over the country as it
marks its 20th year of providing socialized health insurance.

Interested groups or individuals from Region-12are advised to visit Philhealth office nearest them. The program was launched with a tree planting activity in the village of Saravia in Koronadal City, early morning of Friday. It was led byAristoza Jr, Miriam Grace Pamonag, OIC,Office of the Regional Vice-President and PhilHealth Region 12 employees. At least 6,000 professionals and amateur runners from region 12 and neighboring places are expected to participate in the 20-kilometer run, 10-kilometer run, 5-kilometer run and 3-kilometer kiddie run. Registration fee ranges from P300 to P500, including singlets. Students can still participate in the 5 kilometer run with a minimal registration fee of P100, exluding singlets. Pamonag announced that
Cotabato Bahay Maria Foundation, Inc., a home for the aged in Cotabato City, will
be one of the chosen beneficiaries in the region together with Department of
Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ‘Home for girls’ which was also last
year’s fun run beneficiary.

Jovita
Isnani, Bahay Maria Foundation, Inc., administrator, said that she was
surprised and was speechless upon receiving the information that Bahay Maria will
be a beneficiary of PhilHealth run.

Halos
hindi ako makapagsalita, but I believe this is a Great Divine blessings to us,”
Isnani said.

The administrator said that she asked for help from different non-government organizations
but failed to have one since the foundation can’t provide any counterpart funds
or service that the agencies are requiring them to supply.

I approached various government and non government organizations but I failed to get any aid since they need counterpart fund,” she said.

Isnani
said that being the PhilHealth’s beneficiary is not a coincidence but it is by
God’s grace.An isolated
building is one of Bahay Maria Foundation’s wish lists in addition to a
multicab or any vehicle that the foundation can use for the outing of the
elders to provide what Isnani said as a piece of comfort.
