KIDAPAWAN CITY - After banning the selling, distribution and use offirecrackers last year, the city government here has changed stance and would allow firecrackers and fireworks display in welcoming the New Year.Mayor Joseph Evangelista is set to issue an executive order allowing the sale of fireworks and firecrackers next month.However, Evangelista quickly added that it will be closely regulated. Only small and less powerful firecrackers and pyrotechnics are allowed in the city, he said.Selling is only allowed starting December 23, 2014 until January 1.The city will designate an area where the firecrackers and pyrotechnics will be displaced.Selling anywhere is prohibited, he said.Last year, amid opposition from firecracker traders, Evangelista ordered a total ban on firecrackers in the city.
