950 finish DA 12's school-on-the-air

COTABATO
CITY – Radio was, once again, proven, to be one of the most
effective tools in educating and informing farmers and fisher folks about the
government’s agriculture projects, officials said Wednesday. This
after about 950 farmers, young people, and students across SOCCSKSARGEN Region finished
Monday a complete course of school-on-the-air (SOA) hosted by the Department of
Agriculture -12. DA
12, headed by Regional Executive Director Amalia Jayag-Datukan, awarded the
graduates their certificates of completion to the SOA graduates in a series of
graduation ceremonies. SOA
graduates included 650 from South Cotabato, General Santos City and Sultan Kudarat
province area and 200 from Alamada, Pikit, Carmen and neighboring
municipalities in North Cotaabato. About
100 students of the M’lang National High School in M’lang, North Cotabato who
comprised a special class of SOA students also received their certificates of
completion, on November 28. Nelly
Escote-Ylanan, chief of the Regional Agriculture and Fishery Information
Division, said the SOA covered lessons on intercropping of corn and cassava as
well as rice technologies. Lessons
were aired via several radio stations in different parts of the region.
