'Waste basket' policy in effect in Gen. Santos City

GEN. SANTOS CITY - The city government is strictly implementing an ordinance directing public transport groups, from tricycle to jeepneys to taxi and buses, to put garbage bin in the vehicles.Penalties await violators of City Ordinance 12-2008 which requires public utility vehicles to display within the vehicle a waste basket so garbage will not litter the streets and destroy the environment, especially plastics. TIMRA member Radio Station DXCP, reported that the Gen. Santos City environment and natural resources has been implementing the ordinance to the letter and spirit. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is helping implement the ordinance.
