COTABATO CITY --- Police and military probers are still clueless on Saturday’s fatal ambush of nine motorists inside a sprawling state agricultural reservation in Kabacan town in North Cotabato.

Major Peter Pinalgan, Jr. of the Kabacan municipal police station said Sunday they are still trying to identify the gunmen who ambushed the nine Moro men on separate motorcycles at noontime Saturday in Barangay Aringgay.

KABACAN, North Cotabato – The lone survivor in the mass killing Saturday in Kabacan, Cotabato has also died hours after the shooting, raising the death toll to nine, police said.

Police Major Peter Pinalgan Jr, Kabacan town police chief, said Tong Guiaman, 30 years old, married and resident Buluan, Kabacan, Cotabato expired at past 4 p.m. while undergoing medication at a private hospital.

KORONADAL CITY --- Agents arrested a scheming drug dealer who used as cover for his illegal activity his being a chef in a local restaurant.

COTABATO CITY --- Anti-narcotics agents shot dead a municipal councilor in nearby Kabuntalan, Maguindanao in an entrapment operation in Barangay Rosary Heights 11 here Sunday.

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao  - While conducting combat patrol, troops of the 37th Infantry Battalion encountered more or less 20 communist terrorists in Mt. Payong Payong, Baluan, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat at 5:55am, July 26.

Said encounter resulted in the death of one enemy and the wounding of one soldier.

While scouring the encounter site, troops recovered the enemy cadaver, one M16 rifle, one bandolier, and six magazines.

MAGUINDANAO --- State agents shot dead a drug dealer for resisting arrest after an entrapment tradeoff involving P170,000 worth of shabu in Buluan town Thursday.

Jhetrue Mastura Tantong died from multiple bullet wounds while being rushed to a hospital.

Juvenal Azurin, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said the operation that resulted in the death of Tantong was assisted by the Buluan municipal police and the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion.

KORONADAL CITY – Police authorities in Gen. Santos City arrested a Chinese national and seized from him P8.9 million worth smuggled cigarettes Monday night.

Lieutenant Colonel Lino Capellan, speaking for police in the Soccsksargen region, said 271 boxes of Gudang Baru and Mighty brands of cigarettes, four sachets of suspected shabu were taken from the house rented by Zai Tian Shi at Oringo Subdivision, Barangay City Heights, Gen. Santos City.

Capellan said an undercover police agent managed to buy at about 9 p.m. five reams of Gudang Baru cigarettes for P3,000.

SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao – Suspected Moro rebels harassed a quarantine detachment and a passenger bus that left one militiaman dead, another wounded and a soldier hurt Thursday night, authorities here said.

A Civilian Armed Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was killed while another was injured when two suspects lobbed a hand grenade at a COVID-19 quarantine checkpoints in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao at 7 p.m., according to Lt. Colonel Anhouvic Atilano, 6^th Infantry Division spokesperson.

COTABATO CITY --- Two more members of the New People’s Army involved in the group’s collection of “protection money” from traders surrendered Thursday and pledged allegiance to the government.

The Police Regional Office-12 based in General Santos City said the duo, whose names were withheld pending their relocation to somewhere far from reach of their companions, yielded to officials of different PRO-12 units in Barangay Kalaneg in Maitum town in Sarangani.
