18-year-old arrested for gun possession as poll gun ban starts
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Police operatives here have arrested an 18-year-old boy for carrying an unlicensed firearm as police and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) commenced the implementation of election gun ban.DXND-AM Radyo Bida reported that police officers manning checkpoints along a highway in Kidapawan City and conducting Oplan Sleepless Nights flagged down Dan Monteverde Pounes of Barangay Bagumbayan, Tulunan, North Cotabato.Upon inspection, a cal. 45 pistol with four bullets was seized from him. He failed to present legal documents for possession of a firearm.Pounes who is now detained at Kidapawan City lock up cell is facing charges for violation R.A 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act and election gun ban law.Election gun ban started on Sunday and will last until June 8, 2016 in connection with the 2016 national and local elections.
