20 Lanao, Maguindanao CSOs vow stronger support for Hataman
COTABATO CITY -– Grassroots groups in two provinces in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) have vowed support for the reelection bid of ARMM Gov. Mujiv Hataman. Bobby Benito, convenor of the Grassroots Movement for Peace and Responsible Governance (GMPRGA), said the group decided to stick with Hataman to the governor’s undying and sincere support in pushing for the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Despite the BBL’s failure to become a law under this administration, we witnessed how Hataman fought for it up to end, he is still with us in our quest for a better Bangsamoro,” Benito said.
The group also said after a series of consultations and meetings with different communities, they came up with unified stand to continue with the present leadership who showed sincerity to the plight of the majority of Bangsamoro’s admiration.
Our fear is that it might not be the priority of other candidates if they will be elected,” Benito said, adding that Hataman had offered to step down had the BBL became a law before the filing of certificates of candidacy.
The group represents different grassroots organizations from Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao, including the cities of Cotabato and Marawi.
The same group was behind the candidacy of Hataman in previous election but its number was small then. (Ferdinandh Cabrera)
