3 NPAs yield to Army in NorCot
MAGPET, North
Cotabato – Three persons who claimed they were members of the communist party
of the Philippines surrendered to military authorities Wednesday, the Army here
said.
Colonel Nilo
Vinluan, commander of the 57th Infantry Battalion, identified the
former New Peoples’ Army rebels as Jimmy Ampoy alias Deo, Larry Maasan Bayawan
and Dannie Tambonan Ingkal alias Ungas.
Vinluan said
the Ampoy and Bayaran decided to yield due to hardship in the mountains while Ingkal
yielded after the NPA failed to comply its monetary promise after they
participated in the NPA attack on the President Roxas police station last May.
Ampoy was
positively identified by alias Papang and Mamang, a couple and members of the
NPA who surrendered to the Army last week.
Vinluan said
the trio voluntarily showed up at an Army base in Barangay Don Panaca, Magpet,
North Cotabato.
I did not
doubt their stories because they have vital information about the movement,”
Vinluan told Radyo Bida Kidapawan.
They have no
firearms when they decided to yield, Vinluan said.
