6 NPA rebels surrender to the Army in Maguindanao
AMPATUAN, Maguindanao - Six members of the New People's Army surrendered to the Community Support Program Team of 11 Mechanize Company of the 1st Mechanized Lakan Battalion in Barangay Tomicor, Ampatuan, Maguindanao on March 14, 2018.The were identified as Rolando P. Kanakan, Leo K. Bakat, Gilbert Kanakan, Artem Turunan, Biboy Indofo, former squad leader, and Longking Kanakan, former Political Adviser and recruiter.They were under the Platoon Myphone of Guerilla Front 73 and members of Dulangan-Manobo tribe.All surrenderees are from Barangay Tomicor, Ampatuan, Maguindanao and currently undergoing custodial debriefing at Headquarters 1st Mechanize Infantry Battalion.The surrenderees stated that they had learned about the ongoing efforts of the AFP and local government to resolve their community problems, aside from being tired and hungry they experienced in the mountainous craggy areas of Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao provinces and the false promises of their communist leaders. This is the outcome of an effective collaboration of the military with the communities through addressing the social issues that lured the residents to join the NPA, Major General Dela Vega, 6th ID chief, said.I found to be eligible,they will be given assistance through the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP), Dela Vega added.
