7 injured in grenade attack, shootout in Maguindanao market
COTABATO CITY — Seven persons were wounded, including a minor girl, after a grenade
exploded inside the Parang town pubic market followed by a series of gunburst,
officials said.
Resident
Mohammad Ali, a brother of Barangay Poblacion chairperson and the one who
helped the victims brought to hospitals in here, said he earlier noticed a commotion
followed by a very loud explosion and gunbursts.

see who threw the grenade, it was dark, there is a power outage”, Ali said in

6th division spokesperson Major Jo-ann Petinglay said around 5:45 pm this
evening, their troops from 37th Infantry Battalion reported that a loud
explosion was heard inside the town supermarket which was followed by volume of
gunfire.
The wounded
victims were identified in police report as Jamila Tomas, Abdullah Tomas,
Salahodin Tomas, Saima Raoro, Camlon Rairo, Sirikit Magayan and certain Locman.
Based on the
information gathered from different sources, the shootout and grenade attack
could be triggered by a long standing rido” or clan war involving Moro
families.
Petinglay said
Army bomb experts recovered five empty shells for 9mm pistol and a safety lever
from a hand grenade.
Police and
Army operatives as of this posting time are pursuing a suspect identified as a
certain Sauto Giti from Campo Uno, Matanog, Maguindanao.
