Army bomb experts survive grenade attack in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY -An ordnance disposal team survived a grenade attack Thursday while trying to disrupt a roadside bomb found along a highway in Shariff Aguak town in the second district of the province.None of the bomb disposal men was hurt in the explosion.Captain Joan Petinglay, spokesperson of the Army’s 6thInfantry Division, said the joint Army and police bomb experts were trying to deactivate an improvised explosive device planted by suspected members of the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters along a highway in Barangay Labo-Labo in Shariff Aguak when someone suddenly hurled a fragmentation grenade toward them.The bomber managed to run away as the explosive went off.The blast damaged a police patrol car parked near the spot where the grenade landed.Petinglay said local officials and barangay leaders are now helping police and Army investigators identity the lone bomber.]
