Army discover NPA abandoned lair in NorCot
KIDAPAWAN CITY —The Bravo Company of the Philippine Army based in the town of Magpet, North Cotabato accidentally discovered an abandoned camp of suspected New People’s Army (NPA) on Sunday afternoon. Col. Nilo Vinluan, 57thInfantry Battalion commanding officer, said soldiers conducting foot patrol found an abandoned lair of suspected rebels in Barangay Don Panaca. No one was in the area when military personnel discovered it. However several rebel paraphernalia were found in the area. Several fox holes were also found within the vicinity of the suspected NPA camp, Vinluan added. The army chief said the camp can accommodate more or less 250 persons. Vinluan believes that the camp was once lair of combine forces of the rebels belonging to NPA Fronts51, 54 and 52. We don’t know exactly the reasons why the rebels leave this place,” Vinluan said. Vinluan said the abandoned rebel camp was considered one of the biggest rebel lairs in the town of Magpet.
