Bacaniand Road map to peace okay despite BBL’s snag in Congress

COTABATO CITY -– An official of the government
peace panel talking peace with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on
Wednesday said all provisions of the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro are
implemented as scheduled.
Sec. Senen Bacani, a senior member of GPH peace
panel, told reporters that the roadmap to peace in Mindanao under the Aquino
administration has been going on as planned except the draft Bangsamoro Basic
Law which remained in the hands of the country’s legislators.
Bacani, along with Agriculture Sec. Proceso Alcala,
visited Maguindanao Wednesday and distributed farm equipment and farm inputs to
MILF communities as part of the normalization process of the GPH-MILF peace
agreement.
Each MILF camp received one heavy duty hand tractor
for its members to use in farming, Agriculture Sec. Alcala said.
Recipients of the heavy duty Ferguson tractors with
accessories were MILF’s Camp Bilal, Camp Badar, Camp Rajamuda, Camp Busra, Camp
Abubakar and Camp Darapanan, in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.
Bacani said the issue on the BBL was political while
the GPH panel is implementing the content of the peace agreement. He said he remained
hopeful the BBL can hurdle Congress during its remaining session days.
We don’t want to take a stand on political issues like
the reopening of the Mamasapano investigation,” Bacani stressed.
The Mamasapano incident in Maguindanao in January
last year was a police operation that put down Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin
Hir alias Marwan,” and left 44 elite police force and 17 MILF forces and four
civilians dead.
It almost triggered the collapse of the peace talks but
cooler heads prevailed.
