BIFF bandits harass Army bases in Maguindanao
CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao - Members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) are at it again.The Army's 6th Infantry Battalion said BIFF bandits tried, but failed, to overrun three Army detachments in Datu Piang and Datu Saudi Ampatuan, both in Maguindanao, according to Colonel Dickson Hermoso, 6th ID spokesperson.Citing reports from the field, Hermoso told reporters that BIFF almost simultaneously attacked First Mechanized Infantry Battalion Sunday nightThe attackers, using rifle grenades, harassed the Charlie Company of the 1st Mechanized Battalion in Datu Piang. But alert soldiers repulsed the attempt to take over the Army base.Almost simultaneously, another band of BIFF fighters attacked two Army detachments in Datu Saudi Ampatuan. Soldiers fired back forcing the guerillas to retreat.No casualty was reported on government side.
