Church-based group sympathizes with PIkit blast victims
KIDAPAWAN CITY - A Church-based organization today expressed sympathy to the community of the United Church of Christ
in the Philippines (UCCP) whose three members have died in a grenade attack on
October 8.
Mary Joy Mirasol, secretary
general of Promotion of Church Peoples’ Response in North Cotabato, said group has
offered prayers and lit candles in memory of the slain faithful while urging
the police investigators to conduct thorough and deeper probe on the deadly
blast.
Mirasol said the attack was
horrendous and a dastardly act carried by lawless elements who have no respect
to human life.
Our parishioners fear
for their lives and the incident have reduced their Church activities,” she
said.
We also challenge the
local government of Pikit and the local authorities to take speedy and serious
investigations to give justice to the victims and their families,” Mirasol
stressed.
The PCPR is hoping the probe
will not to the arrest of fall guy. We
hope that this case will not lead to religious conflict,” Mirasol said.
