Davao rules Batang Pinoy Mindanao qualifying leg

KORONADAL CITY – Davao City delegates have
ruled the Batang Pinoy Games Mindano qualifying leg while host Koronadal City
ended up second, officials said.
Davao athlete delegation gathered a total of
102 medals in various sports events that started Monday and ended Thursday.
The over-all champion hauled 37 gold, 33 silver
and 32 bronze medals after the tally ended Friday.
With that, Davao City will banner the Mindanao
delegates to the Batang Pinoy Games in Cebu City on December 2.
The event was marred by accusations of name
switching, referees non calls and calls favouring another teams” and other
form of cheating. Organizers, however,
denied the charges.
Koronadal City, which had thehome
court advantage, earned 97 medals – 33 gold, 39 silver and 35 bronze – and improved
its dismal performance in last year’s Palaro where it ended 6th
place in the qualifying leg held in Pagadian City.
Zamboanga City had 25 gold, 12 silver and 22
bronze medals bagged the third place.
Tagum City had 22 gold, 16 silver, 16 bronze while Iligan City had 22
gold, 7 silver and 25 bronze.
