DepEdand Limit children's TV viewing on weekdays
KORONADAL CITY- A ranking official of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Region 12 has appealed to parents to limit the television viewing time of their children. Dr. Allan Farnazo, DepEd 12 OIC-regional director, said according to study, children may lost interest in reading by watching too much TV shows. We are not saying you prohibit your children, but it will be better if they can spend longer time watching TV only on weekends and not on weekdays,” Farnazo told at least 40 parents who attended the launching of the National Reading Month (NRM) celebration Monday. The education department started the NRM Celebration with a simultaneous Araw ng Pagbasa.” To encourage reading, Deped Secretary Armin A. Luistro led other DepEd officials and local government leaders in conducting a synchronized story reading to pupils Monday Region 12 was the only one in Mindanao and one of the three areas throughout the country selected by DepEd Central Office to participate in the simultaneous reading session.
