Don't sell firecrackers yet, Kidapawan mayor tells traders
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Mayor Joseph Evangelista has warned traders and firecracker vendors that selling of firecrackers and pyrotechnics is still not allowed in the city at this time.Speaking over DXND Radyo Bida, Evangelista said a local ordinance only allows public display and sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnics on December 23 on wards.And only allowed to display, sell anddistribute firecrackers and pyrotechnics are legitimate members ofKidapawan City Fireworks Vendors Association.Don't dare to display, sell or distribute firecrackers if you are not association members for you will be arrested, charged and jailed, Evangelista told vendors.A local ordinance bans the sale of fireworks and pyrotechnics outside designated dates and places in Kidapawan City.He formed a task force to monitor and regulate firecrackers display and salein the city until New Year's day.Also banned are homemade cannons, known as PVC hand cannon or boga. Evangelista wanted zero firecracker incident in the city and thatall Kidapawan City residents are firecracker injury-free as the city welcomes 2017.
