Draft BBL approval seen in March
COTABATO CITY – Rep. Rufus Rodriguez,
chair of the House Adhoc committee on the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law today
assured the House will prioritize the draft law when Congress resumes session
next month. The draft law, which have underwent a
series of consultations in Mindanao and other parts of the country, will be
acted upon by Congress by March.
Rodriguez said the contentious issues
that may run counter to the Philippine Constitution had been resolved.
This was the reaction of Rodriguez after
Malacanang appealed to the legislative body to enact the draft law before 2016.
A road map to peace showed the draft is
expected to be passed by the two Houses of Congress in 2015.
Rodriguez said his committee will submit
its report in February to be deliberated upon and by the end of March it will
be forwarded to Malacanang for approval by the President.
