Drug suspect slain in joint buy-bust operation
ZAMBOANGA CITY - A drug personality was killed after resisting arrest during a joint buy-bust operation in Barangay Panyungan, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, at noontime Wednesday, June 8, 2023.
According to Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi Commander, Brig. Gen. Romeo Racadio, the successful operation was a collaborative effort of the 2nd Marine Brigade, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Tawi-Tawi, Bongao Municipal Police Station, and the intelligence units.
Based on the report, one of the operatives acted as a poseur buyer who bought a pack of Marijuana from the target personality. Sensing that his buyer was a law enforcer, the suspect fired his pistol, forcing the operating troops to retaliate. The exchange of fires resulted in the death of the target, identified as alias Khan.
Government forces seized from the neutralized drug personality’s possession a cal .38 revolver and 13 packs of illegal drugs (Marijuana) weighing 13 kilograms and with an estimated value amounting to PHP425, 593.00.
“Team WestMinCom will continue to assist law enforcement agencies in curbing illegal drug operations in our area of operation. The successful operation is another accomplishment attributable to the good coordination among our troops, the police, and the PDEA,” Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command, said.
