DXMS, country's oldest Catholic commercial radio, is 58 years old today
COTABATO CITY – The oldest Catholic Radio Commercial Station in
the country, DXMS 882 Khz, is celebrating its 58th birthday with a
renewed commitment of giving voice to the deprived and provide objective and
comprehensive discussion of issues affecting Mindanao.
Owned and operated by the Notre Dame Broadcasting
Corporation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, DXMS is the pioneer of NDBC’s six
broadcast stations in Cotabato City, Kidapawan City and Koronadal City.The most credible radio station in south Central
Mindanao, DXMS has designed programs relevant to the lives of Mindanao’s
tri-people – Christian, Muslims and Indigenous Peoples.
With its core values, Credibility, Integrity,
Commitment and Service, DXMS takes center stage in bridging the gap, providing
venue for intelligent and credible discussions of issues that affect mostly ordinary
listeners it called bida.”
DXMS Station Manager Caloy Bautista said to make the
station’s natal day celebration meaningful to its bidas,” several programs are
to be conducted today in partnership with its sponsors.
It was dubbed Pusong Bida, a medical-dental services and other freebies.Starting at 8 a.m. today, medical-dental services
are on-going in the Oblate Media Center compound located at Sinsuat cor Quezon
Avenues, Cotabato City. Free diabetic
screening and pneumonia vaccination are also provided for its listeners.
In the afternoon, free manicure and free haircut
will be available as well as free merienda” for children. The activity will be capped by a videoke
challenge for anyone who would like to sing.
Bautista has asked visitors (bida) to bring, if they
can, used but playable children’s toys, children’s books to be donated to
DOH-ARMM for its Laruang Pambata para sa Kapayapaan” campaign for children
affected by the Mamasapano carnage.
No war toys please, no toy guns, no military-dressed
toys or any toy that will remind war,” he said.
The anniversary activities at the Oblate Media
Center are in partnership with ARMM-HEART, 6th Infantry Division,
Department of Health (DOH-ARMM), Hill Park Inn of Midsayap, Dr. Jun Rabago and
